Logger's Stew
Another "chili but not quite", the presence of kielbasa adds a unique spin to this dish. It's really pretty good. This recipe, originally from a fund-raising cookbook published by Seattle's Junior League, was one of the first my mother-in-law gave to my older daughter.
  1. Saute ground beef in a large heavy skillet. Drain and set aside in seperate dish.
  2. Cut sausage in half lengthwise, then cut into 1/2-inch slices. Saute the sausage until lightly browned and set aside with the beef.
  3. Saute onions and green pepper in olive oil over medium heat until soft but not brown. Add garlic and saute two minutes more.
  4. Add ground beef and sausage back into pan, together with remaining ingredients. Simmer, uncovered, for one hour.
